PRAY CENTRAL
FLORIDA
Dear
Fellow Prayer Warrior, June, 2007
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ. We had some wonderful testimonies from the jail about their
participation in the Global Day of Prayer (GDP). One man said it made him
realize that he had been selfish in his prayers – only praying for his needs
and for his family. God showed him that there is a whole world out there that
he should be praying for. Another man said he and three fellow inmates fasted
for seven of the ten days of prayer before the GDP. God set his heart on fire
and filled him with passion for Jesus and a desire to reach the lost. Another
man was a backslider but God drew him into the 10 days of prayer and through it
he rededicated his life to the Lord. Following this GDP we are called to 90
Days of Blessing. If we believe that God answers prayer then we should be
looking for fresh ways that God’s Spirit is at work both globally and locally.
We prayed for a deeper and more powerful work of God in our hearts, cities and
world. We should now be willing for God to use us more or in new ways. We
should have more of God’s heart for the lost and hurting people. We should be
expecting an increase in the manifestation of God’s presence and power. The 90
Days of Blessing are about walking in the very things we just prayed for. For
myself (George) I can say that the Holy Spirit has been speaking to me in
various ways (including a dream just last night) about expanding the ministry.

Beloved
Warriors:
As if we don't have enough to keep us busy in prayer, we now have the world's
most famous wizard moving next door. Universal Studios has finalized a
deal with J.K. Rowling to build a themed section dedicated to Harry Potter and
the world of wizardy and witchcraft for
children. The below article is from the Orlando Sentinel. A link is
provided for your convenience.
So far, I've heard nothing from Tampa's media about this. It may just be
considered another gizmo upgrade for the tourism industry in Orlando. But
the spiritual implications are huge of having a global power center for
occultism here in Florida. Orlando is already the number one vacation
center on planet earth.
Please join us in praying about this development that will affect the spiritual
climate of our state.

Successful Prayer – New Book by Eddie Smith

<praycf@juno.com>

Subject: Successful Prayer
Dear George,
There is no magical prayer, or
magical form of prayer that God always answers affirmatively. "What about
the prayer of Jabez?" some might ask.
Well, think about it. If Jabez' prayer were a prayer with a guaranteed answer, Jesus
would have instructed his disciples saying, "Pray the prayer that Jabez prayed."
Instead, he taught them to pray,
"Our Father, who art in heaven..."
Further, if God had to answer our
prayers, he would cease to be God. We would be gods, and he would be reduced to
focusing on us, receiving our instructions, and serving up what we order.
Sadly, if you listen to some people
pray, that seems to be what they expect! Let me be the first to confess...
One day I was praying one of those
oft repeated parental prayers for one of our sons. I don't remember my exact
words, but they were something like, "Oh God, fix my son. He's into this,
and into that. He needs this, and he needs that. God, how long must I pray
before you move in his life?"
With that the Holy Spirit abruptly
interrupted me. He said, "Eddie, that's not prayer. You're slandering
me."
Shocked and befuddled, I said,
"Slandering you, Lord? What do you mean, I'm slandering you? You know I'd
never do that."
God continued, "Alright, allow
me to interpret what you just prayed. First, you obviously think that you know
your son's needs, and although I created him, I don't.
Secondly, it sounds as if you feel
that you love your son, but I don't.
Finally, you seem to be suggesting
that if you were me, you'd already have done something, and I haven't. Doesn't
that about cover it?"
I had to admit that he was right.
After all, he's God! But I was at a loss as to what I should pray. So, I
waited.
After an uncomfortable moment or two
I heard prayer coming from my heart to his. It was unlike any I'd ever prayed
before. It sounded like this.
"Father, I thank you for loving
me and for hearing my prayers. I praise you for the plan and purpose you have
for my son--for you wrote the days of his life in your book before he was even
born.
I'm grateful to know that your plans
are perfect, and your purposes never change. Thank you for assuring me in
Philippians 1:6 that what you have begun in his life you will finish.
Thank you for changing his schedule,
and bringing people into his life that he never expected to meet. Thank you for
reminding him of things Alice and I have taught him since he was a small
child..."
From that moment Alice and I began
praying a new way for our children.
Six months later our son called Alice
and said,"Mother,
I know you and Dad have prayed for me
all my life. But you've changed the way you pray for me haven't you?"
She said, "Yes, Son, we
have."
He continued, "It's been about
six months hasn't it?"
She acknowledged that it had been
exactly six months. "But how do you know that?" she asked.
"Mother until six months ago,
I've felt confused in my mind and condemned in my heart. But for the past six
months I've felt clear minded and drawn to God."
Since then, we've watched God at work
in our son's life, drawing him ever so slowly to himself.
Thank God, I'm not the only one who
God's ever interrupted while they were praying. God interrupted Joshua when he
was praying for Israel, after their defeat at Ai.
Joshua was face down on the ground,
covered in sack cloth and ashes. At least I hadn't gone that far!
God said to Joshua, "It's not
time to pray. It's time for you to get up and clean house. You folks have
hidden forbidden things among your stuff. Your army will never win another
battle until you find and rid yourselves of those defiled things." (See Joshua 7.)
God also interrupted Moses and the
Children of Israel at the Red Sea where they were trapped by Pharaoh and the
world's greatest army. You might say they were "caught between the devil
and the deep blue sea"; or as we say in Texas, "between a rock and a
hard place."
They cried out (actually whined) to
God about their circumstance. God's response? He said,
"Folks, This is no time to pray. Moses, raise the rod and split the
sea." And he did! Since he interrupted Joshua and Moses, I didn't feel too
badly when he interrupted me. (See Genesis 14.)
In my new book, How to Be Heard in
Heaven: Moving from Needs Centered to God Centered Praying ,
I don't promise to teach you how to get what you want from God. But I do hope
that by the time you finish reading the book you will know how to be heard in
heaven. Why?
Because prayers that are never heard
will never be answered!

(3) Preparing for the Next Great Awakening

Preparing
for the Next Great Awakening
Our
country is in serious spiritual crisis. Are you ready for God to
intervene?
On April
26, 1607 a group of weary English settlers dropped anchor off
the coast of Virginia, came ashore and planted a
makeshift wooden
cross in the sand. Then they knelt and dedicated the New
World to
Jesus
Christ.
Four
hundred years later, hundreds of Christians gathered on that same
sand-a few miles from the headquarters of the Christian
Broadcasting
Network
(CBN) in Virginia Beach-to renew the original colonial
settlers' covenant with God and to ask Him to send a spiritual
revival
to America.
"There's
no reason that the powerful demonstrations of supernatural
power occurring in non-Western countries can't happen in
the United
States."
The Assembly
2007 event in Virginia Beach (which will last for three
more days) may not receive a lot of mainstream media
attention, but a
group of Christian leaders who met at CBN this week said
they believe
God is
watching it carefully-and His attention is what matters. They
believe He is eager to respond to our sincere cries for mercy
for a
backslidden nation.
The
consultation on revival that I attended yesterday united a diverse
group of Baptists, Pentecostals, independent charismatics and
parachurch leaders including Paul Cedar of Mission America, Jane
Hansen of Aglow International and Lou Engle of TheCall. We shared our
hearts, prayed about the spiritual condition of the country
and shed a
few tears as we admitted how badly the American church
needs another
Great Awakening.
Billy
Wilson, a Pentecostal who directs the International Center for
Spiritual
Renewal in Cleveland, Tenn., facilitated our discussion and
asked us to envision what a 21st century revival would look
like if
(1) we commit ourselves to united prayer and fasting, and (2)
God
answers with fire. I certainly don't have the full picture of
what
this will look like, but I shared these insights with the
group in
Virginia
and I'll now pass them along to you.
1. The
next revival will surprise us. It is wonderful to read about
the ways God moved in past revivals. But we must heed the
word of the
Lord from
Isaiah: "'Behold, I will do a new thing'" (Is. 43:19NKJV).
Just as
the apostle Peter was shocked when the Holy Spirit fell on the
gentiles in Cornelius' house, we too will be surprised (and
some of us
will be offended) by the way God works.
2. It
will be controversial. The Holy Spirit does not need our
permission to break status-quo religious mind-sets. When He
moves in
power, not everyone in the church will welcome God's holy
disruption.
Some
denominations and religious systems will criticize it-and
persecute those who promote it.
3. It
will be gloriously messy. Sinners are converted by the thousands
during times of revival. But when people who suffer from the
effects
of abuse, abandonment, fatherlessness,
addiction, occultism and sexual
brokenness find God, they require pastoral care. I hope we are
prepared to heal their wounds, cast out their demons and
welcome them
into our churches. (Reminder: Many churches shunned the
hippie
converts of the Jesus movement. Let's not make the same
mistake
again.)
4. The
next revival will not be white. Expect African-Americans,
Hispanics and other immigrant churches to play lead
roles. Christians
who harbor racist attitudes will have a difficult time
with the way
God's
love is lavished on people who don't look like them.
5. It
will be accompanied by astounding miracles. There's no reason
that the powerful demonstrations of supernatural power occurring
in
non-Western countries can't happen in the United States. We must
reject our intellectualism and unbelief and expect the
impossible.
6. The
next revival will involve empowered women. What God did in the
early Pentecostal movement-when women such as Aimee Semple McPherson
shook cities for God-was a foretaste of what we will see in
this next
season, when women discover new freedom from the limitations
of
tradition.
7. Old
church programs, patterns and facilities will become obsolete.
When the
new wine appears, we will quickly recognize how ineffective
our old wineskins were. The next revival will require us
to be
innovative and eager for change. Stay flexible.
8.
Technology will play a big role. Imagine the raw spiritual energy
of a Great Awakening traveling digitally into every
home, campus and
business. It will happen.
9.
Revival will shift us into humility and brokenness. When God's
manifest presence erupts upon us in a new way, our only proper
response will be to repent of our arrogance and the cheap
celebrity
Christianity
we have paraded before the world. Leaders will weep from
their pulpits, congregations will soak altars and we will
know the
presence of a God who draws near to the humble.
10. As in
previous revivals, this one will come with great conviction.
During
the First and Second Great Awakenings, there were times when
people who heard the gospel felt such intense remorse for
their sin
that they fainted in anguish. We've never seen the
tangible fear of
God fall
on the church in this way, but I believe it is coming.
If you
are desperate for such a move of God, I encourage you to join
the growing number of believers who have decided to
commit themselves
to extraordinary prayer until the floodgates are opened.
J. Lee
Grady is editor of Charisma. He encourages you to attend TheCall,
a national event that will focus on prayer for
America's
youth. It will be held at Titans Stadium in Nashville,
Tenn., on
July 7. Log on at www.thecall.com for more info. For more

Subject: FRIDAY WATCH-FIRE ALERT
THE ARAB WORLD IS SILENT
AS HAMAS COMPLETES GAZA TAKEOVER
Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan remain
silent as Hamas completes its bloody control of the
Gaza Strip, which it described as the first step towards creating an Islamic
State in one of the most densely populated and poorest areas in the world.
The same countries who just weeks earlier called on Israel to recognize the
Saudi peace initiative and move the process forward, now fear the possibility
of similar coup attempts by Moslem extremists occurring in their own countries.
Even the Egyptian mediators fled the area earlier this week, when they realized
their attempts to secure a ceasefire were falling on deaf ears. (Infolive.tv, 6/15/07)
May the Lord destroy and divide the tongues of those who would
incite violence against Israel. (Ps 55:9) Pray that the Lord break the
strongholds of religion, pride and wickedness that seek to control Israel. (Ps
125:3)
The Lord will not forsake His people for His great name's sake, because it has
pleased the Lord to make Israel His people. (1 Samuel 12:22)
Pray that President Bush, his advisers and staff, those leading the State
Department and all who make foreign policy decisions understand God's Biblical
plan for Israel and His love for the Jewish people.
More than 90 people
have been killed. Morgues are overflowing and hospitals are overwhelmed with
the wounded.
Hamas gunmen defeated their rivals from Fatah with surprising swiftness, seizing security
installations and marching once-feared Fatah fighters
down the street shirtless and with hands raised. Gaza now faces an uncertain
future. The extreme tactics of Hamas could further
choke off the region from international aid. And closed borders could lead to a
humanitarian crisis.
The Palestinian territories have essentially been split into two parts. Fatah still dominates the West Bank, which is home to most
of the Palestinian population.
In the West Bank, Fatah - fearful that Hamas' momentum could spread there - went on the offensive.
It rounded up three dozen Hamas fighters. Angry
militants threw office furniture out a third-story window of the Palestinian
parliament building in Ramallah and then set fire to
the office of three Hamas lawmakers.
Hamas said it plans to take control of Gaza's
crossing with Egypt. The crossing has been closed since the outbreak of
fighting earlier this week. Under an Israeli-Palestinian agreement, it was
monitored by European observers. (NPR, 6/15/07)Click here to see a map of Gaza and the "West
Bank" - also known as Samaria and Judea
PRAY FOR THE CHRISTIANS OF GAZA
Now that Hamas
is in power, they will be organizing Gaza as an Islamic state. This puts those
who believe in Yeshua at more risk than usual. Many
are now in hiding. Please pray that:
- the believers would have great wisdom, to know what to do and when to do it.
- they would know if they are to leave Gaza or to stay
(some have expressed a desire to stay to help new believers).
- they will not become discouraged and lose hope
- the Lord will protect them from the violence, that the blood of Yeshua would be on their doorposts
- that the Lord will lead them clearly every day, where to go and where not to
go
- that they would have supernatural provision (Intercessors for Israel, www.ifij.org)
ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER
EHUD OLMERT
ARRIVES IN WASHINGTON ON TUESDAY
According to the news daily, Haaretz (6/14/07) Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert plans to recommend to
President Bush during an upcoming meeting at the White House (June 19) that
Gaza and the West Bank should be viewed as two separate entities.
As part of this new policy, the Israeli defense establishment is seeking to
ensure that the factional fighting and Islamist takeover occurring in Gaza does
not spread to the West Bank. (Haaretz, 6/14/07)
Prime Minisiter Omert
still plans to give the Golan to Syria. This would be catastrophic for Israel,
not only for those who live in the Golan but it is one of the main paths for
both water and also for the Syrian armies is they were to move south in to
Israel. Pray that:
- Omert will see that trying to appease our enemies
only makes them hungry for more
- Omert will not continue with his plan to give the
Golan to Syria!
- those in the residents of the Golan would not be passive - that they would
have a strong resolve to resist forcing the government not to make these
strategic changes. (Intercessors for Israel, www.ifij.org)
HIGH ALERT IN PLACE AT
THE TEMPLE MOUNT
Israel's police forces have been put on
high alert in Jerusalem ahead of Friday afternoon Muslim prayer gatherings on
the Temple Mount. This is in response to the boiling situation in the Gaza
Strip, where Hamas took control this week.
Fears are the violence could "spill over" into "Palestinian"
areas in Samaria and Judea, as well as Jerusalem Age restrictions have been
imposed on Arabs wishing to visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque
on the Temple Mount in an effort to keep younger hotheads away.
The Mount is the holiest site of the Jewish people, but remains under de facto
Islamic control, with Israel's authorities bound by the need to remain
politically correct, and afraid of exercising sovereignty due to threatened
Arab violence. "Palestinian" terrorist organizations use the site to
rally their members and incite them into readiness for an all out onslaught on
Israel. (Ynet, 6/15/07)
