PRAY   CENTRAL   FLORIDA

Dear Fellow Prayer Warrior,                                                                           December, 2008

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The Greater Orlando Christian Film Festival this fall was a big success with many hundreds making commitments to Christ. Praise God also for the passage of the Florida marriage protection amendment. Thank you for your prayers for our city and nation. In some ways our nation is drifting farther away from God but there are also evidences of increased movement of the Spirit of God. As this year ends and the next begins lets not be weary in well doing but even increase our availability to the Lord.

A few years ago when Pastor Jackson Senyonga was here from Uganda he said that people began to really seek God out of either desperation or devastation. The meaning was that God’s people could spend time with Him and get His heart and plans for their lives, families, city and nation and realize that God’s will can only be accomplished by His divine intervention. Such a realization should bring us to a place of utter desperation for God to move and a willingness to sacrifice everything for His glory. The other way to come is by devastation. That is when everything a person or nation is trusting in (besides God) is taken away and that person or nation is brought so low that God is the only answer left. For Uganda it took devastation. From a place of total devastation God brought revival to Uganda. This is chronicled on several of George Otis’ Transformation videos. For the last few years another Ugandan pastor has been visiting Orlando – John Mulinde. We have highlighted several of his meetings in this newsletter, one of which was the National Leaders Retreat held in Orlando in September. The audio files of 10 messages from that retreat are available online at  www.worldtrumpet.com/table/free-audio-messages. There is also audio from a Leadership Summit in Orlando in November and a series of messages on what it means to be set apart for God, all by John Mulinde. They are all free to listen to or download (mp3). As our nation falls farther and farther away from God these messages are good reminders both of what is at stake and of how dramatically God can move when His people truly humble themselves and pray and seek His face. Will it take devastation to bring us back to God or will we choose to humble ourselves and become desperate for God to fulfill His purposes for our lives and our nation? A good question to ponder as we head into a new year.

Dear Friends,

It is now less than one week before we go live with the onething08 Conference here in Kansas City (Dec 28–31). The Spirit of God continues to stir my heart with the importance of this conference. The time is urgent. The word of the Lord must run swiftly across the earth.

Already, nearly 15,000 people have registered to attend this conference and many more are hearing about it every day. By now, you have heard from me several times via emails and podcasts about the historic importance and prophetic significance of the onething08 Conference. Today, the leadership of the IHOP–KC Missions Base has unanimously decided to give the onething08 Conference live webcast away for FREE.

We understand that this step will increase our conference costs and our administrative load, but we are compelled by the urgency of this hour. I invite you to participate in the onething08 Conference from December 28–31 for FREE via live webcast. I also invite you to send this email to at least ten of your friends, family and church leaders. Only 15,000 people can join us in person at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, but many more can join us online.

Though the onething08 conference webcast is FREE, registration is necessary. Click here to register online and receive a link to our live webcast.

Until He returns,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New Survey Shows Fewer Problems at Home and at School
for Children With Intact Married Families that Worship Weekly

(ORLANDO, FL) - A new study released today by the Florida Family Policy Council finds that children have fewer problems at school and home when they live with both biological parents and frequently attend religious services.  Drs. Nicholas Zill [1][1] and Philip Fletcher [1][2] co-authored the new study which analyzes data from the National Survey of Children’s Health.

Among their remarkable findings: children in this group are five times less likely to repeat a grade, less likely to have behavior problems at home and school, and are more likely to be cooperative and understanding of others’ feelings.  Parents of these children report less stress, healthier parent-child relationships, and fewer concerns about their children’s achievement. These differences hold up even after controlling for family income and poverty, low parent education levels, and race and ethnicity.

“With the economic crisis that we find ourselves in, it is time to stop pretending that the breakdown of the family does not have detrimental effects on every area of society from generation to generation,” said John Stemberger, president and general counsel of the Florida Family Policy Council. “Our public policy in Florida needs to be focused on keeping families together and strengthening the position of parents to do their difficult but rewarding job of raising their children.”

“This study reveals the powerful impact that faith and family have on a child’s life,” Stemberger said. “Marriage and family are not simply private and religious in nature.  They serve as a foundation for our society and when that foundation gives way, we see the tragic results for children in terms of increased behavioral problems, stress in the home, strained family relationships and decreased educational achievement.”

A copy of the study can be downloaded at www.FLfamily.org.

The Florida Family Policy Council is a pro-family public policy organization that is associated with Focus on the Family. The organization’s mission is to strengthen Florida’s families through public policy education, issue research and grassroots advocacy

Intercede for Prisoners and Their Families

Offer thanksgiving for the many lives that are changed through Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree program. Pray for prisoners and their families that God bring unity and peace to their households, especially during this holiday season when lonliness can be magnified by separation from loved ones. Intercede that God establishes loving relationships between incarcerated parents and their children. Pray for protection, encouragement, and guidance for believing prisoners and their loved ones.  Intercede also for those individuals who have control over funding that God would move them to develop and implement programs that will assist families, especially the children, of prisoners.

The Night Jesus Came

Alice Smith

'Twas the night Jesus came
And all through the house,
Not a person was praying,
Not one in the house ..

The Bible was left
On the shelf without care,
For no one thought
Jesus would come there..

The children were dressing
To crawl into bed,
Not once ever kneeling
Or bowing their head ..

And Mom in the rocking chair
With babe on her lap,
Was watching the Late Show
As I took a nap..

When out of the east
There rose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet
To see what was the matter..

Away to the window
I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters

And lifted the sash..

When what to my wondering
Eyes should appear,
But Angels proclaiming
That Jesus was here..

The light of His face
Made me cover my head...
Was Jesus returning
Just like He'd said..

And though I possessed
Worldly wisdom and wealth,
In spite of myself..

In the Book of Life
Which he held in his hand,
Was written the name
Of every saved man..

He spoke not a word
As he searched for my name,
When He said "it's not here"
My head hung in shame..

The people whose names
Had been written with love,
He gathered to take
To his Father above..

With those who were ready
He rose without sound,
While all of the others
Were left standing around...

I fell to my knees
But it was too late,
I'd waited too long
And thus sealed my fate .

I stood and I cried
As they rose out of sight,
Oh, if only I'd known
That this was the night....

In the words of this poem
The meaning is clear
The coming of Jesus
Is now drawing near...

There's only one life
And when comes the last call,
We'll find out that the Bible
Was true after all...

Going Green For Those In Need

The Christian Service Center for Central Florida has gone GREEN with the introduction of a special promotion. In November 2008, the Center introduced a special item, available to our local churches and supporters, to help promote the Center and save the environment, too.

“As responsible Christians, it is imperative that we do all we can to be stewards of what God has entrusted in us,” said Robert Stuart, Executive Director of the Christian Service Center. “And, if we also call attention to the thousands of families who can’t afford food each day, we will have accomplished much with this small promotion.”

The new bags are made from recycle material and bag has the Christian Service Center logon on it and reminds each of us that their efforts are helping others with this expression boldly printed on each bag, “Feeding those in need.” Each bag is a colorful Royal Blue that reflects the color of the Christian Service Center and has the logo, website and phone number, helping people share what they are doing to help strengthen and support our neighbors in Central Florida.

How can you get a bag?

The bags are now available from the Christian Service Center for $5.00 each. The Center is also offering bags to each of our supporting churches so that they will be able to share these bags during the upcoming holiday season. (For quantity discounts, please contact Chrissy Garton at 407-425-2523). In addition, during this Holiday Season, the Center will be providing a commemorative bag to each donor who generously gives a financial gift of $100 or greater.

“What a great way to help others and help yourself, too,” said Stuart. “We are asking our local churches to help by purchasing scores of bags for their members, ask them to fill them up and return them full of groceries to help our families.”

Several churches have already purchased bags, and a large local business will place gifts to their clients in the bags.

For more information on the work of the Christian Service Center or on our new recycled bags, contact Chrissy Garton at 407-425-2523 or email her at cgarton@christianservicecenter.org.

Thank you,

Robert Stuart

Other Ways To Help

Maintaining our Christian Service Center facilities always represents a challenge, but also provides several volunteer project opportunities. Here are some of our needs going into the New Year.

Many of our Orlando buildings need a good coat of paint. Several signs are missing or in need of repair. One of our buildings housing Share the Care is in need of stucco repair. Some boards on our privacy fence need to be replaced, and a good pressure washing is in order. Some chain link fence poles need to be replaced, and the fence tightened. Some areas need new sod. New gravel is needed for some parking areas. Pruning/trimming of plants and trees is needed.

If you or your group might be able to assist with any of these needs, contact Finance Director Bob Klinefelter at 407-425-2523 X 229.

It's About the Kingdom

By Eddie Smith

    Almost daily I receive offers in the mail that say, "For a limited time only..." Your kingdom, which is your most valuable earthly possession, is uniquely yours. It is the reason you are here and it ultimately affects your eternity. Your opportunity to reach your kingdom potential is possible for a limited time only. The days of your life are numbered. (Psalm 139:16)

~~~
    Years ago Walter took his friend Arthur to see some land in open country where cattle were idly grazing. Walter explained about his dream for developing this area. He told his friend that in time the area would be surrounded by restaurants, hotels, and convention centers. He told Arthur that his plan would take all of his money and he needed others to develop the surrounding area. He wanted his friend to have the first opportunity to buy into this project.
    But Arthur thought to himself, "Who in the world is going to drive twenty-five miles for this crazy project?"
    He said to Walter that he would think about it and decide later on.
    "Later on will be too late," Walter cautioned Arthur.
    "You'd better move on it right now."
    "And so Art Linkletter turned down the opportunity to buy up all the land that surrounded what was to become Disneyland. His friend Walt Disney tried to talk him into it. But Art thought he was crazy."
    If you are satisfied with the Christianity you experience and see around you, don’t even bother with this article. It will only frustrate and perhaps even anger you.
    However, if you (like me) are filled with a holy dissatisfaction with the status of 21st Century Christianity, then let’s see if God will give us “a heavenly chiropractic adjustment”, so that the flow of Christ’s life in us can be released through us and His purposes can be accomplished by us.
    Around the world the face of Christianity is changing. With the dawning of the new millennium a new day is dawning in the church, everything that can be shaken is being shaken.
    One day in 1997, as I prayed for national revival, I sensed God say three things that startled me. I believe He said…
1.      “I am sending revival to America.”
2.      “It will not be added to what you have, it will be in place of it.”
3.      “It will be served to you on a platter of ruin.”
    God will not add revival to what we have. Western Christianity cannot be repaired. We are beyond the reformation. We must have a spiritual revolution, a rebirth of the New Testament church that exists solely for God’s kingdom purposes. We’ve prostituted the things of God. Things meant to be lavished upon the King, we have lavished upon ourselves. We’ve sought to be the center of our “self-created world” rather than allow the Lord God to be the Center of all He has created.
Have we prostituted the way into the kingdom?
    The gospel of Christ is a kingdom gospel--the doorway into life in the kingdom of God.
    However, much of what is preached in the American church today as “the gospel” is anything but the gospel of the kingdom. It is a non-offensive, emotionally-pleasing, man-centered, problem-solving treatise on a powerless cross that is calculated to appeal to the lost, rather than to confront them. It leaves most lost people entertained, and relatively comfortable in their sin. This isn’t biblical evangelism. Have we forgotten that the gospel is foolish, a stumbling block, and offense to those who are perishing? (1 Cor. 1:18; Gal. 5:11)
    Biblical evangelism is based on an offensive gospel that offends the senses of natural men by telling them that they are lost, wicked, evil, and eternally condemned in their current state. It announces to them their desperate plight without Christ; that without Him they are helpless, hopeless and eternally doomed. It reveals that they are enemies of God and demands that they be changed; that they die to sin, or else they will die in sin! That only those who have died to sin, to themselves and to this world can experience spiritual resurrection with Christ and receive His eternal life.
    What about Christ’s love for them? The problem is that Christ came to seek and to save those who are lost. (Lk. 19:10) The reason some can’t be saved is because they’ve never heard the message and received the revelation that they are lost.
    Those who miss this revelation and hear only about God’s love and grace, quite wrongly feel they deserve it. Only people who truly know they are eternally lost can appreciate and properly apply the proclamation of Christ’s loving grace, His sacrificial death and burial, and His victorious resurrection and ascension! Only then can they enthrone Christ as Lord of their lives, and be born again.
Are we prostituting kingdom ministry?
    Some ministers have life goals that are often much different than what God has in mind for them. Dissatisfied having their needs met, some long for financial wealth. They are seemingly intent on “laying up treasures on earth…”
    Some ministers won’t be satisfied until they pastor a megachurch.
    Others want glamorous buildings. Around the world, where revival exists and evangelistic harvests are being realized, churches are bulging at the seams. The usual solution is to maximize the space God has provided. That is done by creatively adjusting the programs, the forms of worship, and by using the existing facilities multiple times.
    Last month Alice and I taught in a wonderful South Korean church that has 8,000 in attendance each Sunday. Without complaint, they joyfully have 5-6 services each Sunday to seat all of their members and guests.
    The moment some American churches even think they might max out, they begin to look for new property on which to build bigger buildings, hopefully in an even more affluent part of town.
    Some Christians are driven to receive national acclaim.
    Many today have become victims of slick Madison Avenue advertising, materialistic quests and contests in the body of Christ. They have all but side tracked the church from its kingdom assignment.
    One of God’s most profound and challenging revelations to me came as a result of my first visit to The Joshua Center, a church in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Pastors Ace and Joy Clarke had coined a slogan. But it was far more than a slogan to me. It was a nuclear warhead that started a chain reaction in the core of my being that still reverberates to this day. The statement is simply this. “It’s not about me, it’s not about you, it’s about the kingdom.”
    I brought the motto back to our church. I stated it often from the pulpit. Why? Because some church members think "it's about them." Others, think the pastor must think "it's about him." As a pastor, I can honestly report that the only people I ever had difficulty with were those who thought it was "about them."  <smile>
    You say, “Okay, I don’t get it. What’s about the kingdom?” That’s it—everything exists for the purposes of God's kingdom! (Rev. 4:11) Jesus, our King, wants us to serve Him. But too often we have insisted that God serve us. We’ve twisted almost everything “Christian” to be man-centered and self-serving.
    In our minds prayer is a tool we use to have our needs met and to accomplish what we want to get done—rather than to accomplish the purposes of God—changed lives! I deal strongly with the purpose of prayer in my book, How to Be Heard in Heaven: Moving from Need-Driven to God-Centered Prayer.
    With evangelism we’ve applied the work of the cross to the needs of man. Those who still seek to win the lost do so that they will not go to hell, when in reality hell is exactly what we all deserve. That's right—me too. Neither evangelism nor anything else exists primarily to meet the needs of man. As DeVern F. Fromke teaches in his book, The Ultimate Intention, the cross is not the center of Christianity—the father-heart of God is! Everything exists for His glory—His purpose—His pleasure. Evangelism is about filling the Father’s house with children. It’s about Him! (More later…)
“Inviting God Into America”
December Edition of the JoCo Journal Prophetic Insight
Several weeks ago I encountered an angel that declared to me that it is time to invite our Lord, who is a God of hope, into the United States and into every arena of life. He desires to give this nation a “name of honor.” I became very aware that it is time to partner with Him for all that He has for our nation and the nations across the world, even despite the enemy’s plan to bring destruction and hopelessness.
The Enemy’s Contract on America
I was shown two contracts on America. The first was a contract “on” America by the enemy; the second was God’s contract “for” America. The enemy’s contract on America would create great suffering for the people , but we are not to agree with this contract. In this contract, our government would try to take over and control the economy and I was told that it could lead to fascism. It would start with the wrong industrial labor laws related to race. I also saw the enemy stirring up religious zealotry within the church that would react instead of love. The goal of the enemy was to get the church to offend President Obama. It was clear to me that although we have the right to disagree with our President, we must still highly honor him and his position. I saw several specific attacks of the enemy through this contract:
God’s Contract for America
Then I was shown God’s contract for America, a hope and destiny for her. We are to move in the opposite spirit of what the enemy would try to accomplish and agree with God’s contract for America. In this contract, there were “hope movements” that rose up all across the nation. “Hope centers” came forth and there were “Hope houses” on every block. There was a movement of stadium worship filled with the glorious presence of God. There was a tremendous unlocking of the greater knowledge of God in this hour and increased training.
Recently I had a dream that stadiums in America, and also across the world, were filled with thousands and thousands of people worshiping the Lord and declaring that Jesus is loved within their cities. The scoreboards in the stadiums read, “Jesus is loved well here.” The narrator in my dream described to me that the Lord was being “most perfectly adored,” by these ones. It needed to be a corporate gathering because there was a power unlocked by corporate love that could not be unlocked by only one. This is part of God’s contract for America and purpose for her.
Weapons Unleashed
In this season I saw the devil releasing new weapons; but then I saw God releasing His full arsenal, which was unbelievably powerful. His arsenal is a spirit of hope and worship that will arise in the midst of crisis. He will bring a blessing upon “hope bringers” who would facilitate the stadiums of worship. He will unleash a grace to fight with remembrance– as the enemy unleashed weapons we will be able to remember God’s goodness and magnify the Lord’s unrelenting kindness in the past and the present. A heritage of hope will spring forth in geographical areas; in the cities that invited God in and worshiped Him. It is time to continue to invite Him in and it time for us to live in hope, believing that His plan is good. We have a responsibility to dig beyond the peripheral evil, and seek out the power of the living God.
Testimony of provision upon acting on a promise
Dear Friends,
This is not a new prophetic word but an awesome testimony of how this lady received the word and acted on it and was so blessed! I feel so encouraged and blessed when someone out there simply believes and acts on something that God says. So many times we do not realize how a word, a prayer or just a touch can be such a blessing! It is no wonder that Paul instructs us to speak the Word "in season and out of season" and Isaiah says "God gave me the tongue of the lerned to speak a word to that which is wearied".  She received the word through the Elijah List some time ago but only today I found her testimony in a blog she published and contacted her asking for permission to post the testimony. Praise God!
because you prayed, He came with deliverance; because you prayed, He came with provision.
The other day I received an email with a teaching type thing in it... It read in part
"....So many times, we keep crying to God to open the gates of Heaven and send blessings, when we could simply open the gates we have and gather the blessings God's "already" caused to be left at our gates--when we prayed! But this takes action--we need to act, open the gates, step out in faith and believe God!
Nothing will happen that you do not pray for; but many times the blessings you prayed for are already at your gates. Because you prayed, they were sent to you; because you prayed, blessings were stored at your front door; because you prayed, He came with deliverance; because you prayed, He came with provision.
God will never answer a prayer that has not been made. But then again, God will never answer your prayers by sending quail flying into your camp already roasted! ( I LOVED THAT PART!!!!)
Be blessed and be a blessing!
Ok... so to get to my point... every winter that I have lived here (this will be my 9th I think) I have stressed over getting wood to burn as I only heat by my wood stove.. long story but the heaters are NOT good... anyway.... I many times have to chose between food etc and wood to keep us warm...
I didn't want to spend another winter living here and going through the stress... I just wanted to move... but without the funds I am facing another winter in this big, old and drafty house.
Yesterday I had to take my daughter to the store... as I was coming home I saw a huge trailer filled with scrap wood in someones yard. The Holy Spirit told me to stop and ask them if they were throwing it away and if I could have some... uuummmm yeah... NOT!!! I argued with Him... knowing I hardly ever ask for help because I have learned many times that if I do then I am either told no or made to feel like 2 inches tall for even asking... or I ask and they say yes but then don't follow through...
anyway... I came home... kept thing about it... but then I pushed it out of my mind... How could the Lord ask me to do something that was totally against everything in me. When I woke up Monday morning The Holy Spirit was at me again... telling me to go to that house... I again argued with Him.... He finally won... I got in the blazer... prayed all the way... said "If that is you Lord You need to give me the grace because I can't just go to some strangers house and ask them for their wood" He said that if I didn't listen I would miss my blessing... then He reminded me of the part of the word I read that
"we could simply open the gates we have and gather the blessings God's "already" caused to be left at our gates--when we prayed! But this takes action--we need to act, open the gates, step out in faith and believe God! "
That really got my attention... Knocking on their door WAS OPENING THE GATE.
After driving past their house a few times I pulled into the driveway... almost trembling, I knocked on the door... A little old lady came to the door... I asked and she said I could take what ever I wanted (her son is a contractor and it was all going to get dumped at a wood recycle place... he had to pay to dump it) ... I could only reach a little but her husband came to me and told me I could have some branches that he had cut up... I took the lumber I had loaded home... then went back for the branches...
The Lord told me to give them my name and address and tell them to tell their son that he could dump it at my house if he wanted... that I could use as much as was there and whatever I couldn't burn I would dispose of... like pressed board...
At any rate... their son came and dumped it my yard today (Tuesday) see pics...He also told me that he gets a trailer full like that about once a week...Of course I told him he could dump a few more here!!!
... After looking at the pile I knew there would be lots of work to do... sorting stacking cutting... I thought about all the work BUT I was NOT about to complain even though the dread started to come over me... Then The Holy Spirit reminded me of another part of the word I read...
"God will never answer a prayer that has not been made. But then again, God will never answer your prayers by sending quail flying into your camp already roasted!"
REMEMBER...
because you prayed, He came with deliverance;(He delivered me, at that moment, from the fear of asking strangers for something.. I may struggle again but for that moment anyway I was delivered) because you prayed, He came with provision. (He provided the wood for me to burn!!!)
I was thankful for the "quail" He had send me... and I am NOT about to complain about having to roast it!!!! HE IS SOOOOOO GOOD!!!!
If You made it this far... Thank you!!!
