PRAY   CENTRAL   FLORIDA

Dear Fellow Prayer Warrior,                                                                           January, 2009

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I am hearing from many different streams that a shift has happened in the spirit realm or that the moving of God’s Spirit is going to increase or variations on that theme. Some people see this as a final preparation of the Church for the Last Days, others don’t. The commonality I see is that there is a clear call of God to His Bride to consecrate herself to Him and seek after Him like never before. We will need this kind of walk with the Lord to either walk victoriously through whatever portion of Tribulation we are here on this earth for, or to walk in the increased anointing He wants to pour out on His Church. Regardless of your particular doctrine of the end times, I think many of you are sensing an urgency that was not there in previous years. At the One Thing conference at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City Mike Bickle called young people to a radical Nazarite lifestyle of fasting two days a week, two hours a day of prayer and bible study, holiness of lifestyle, radical giving, and service, and over five thousand people committed to live that way for the next 10 years. He also has some very good teaching on the End Times. You can see replays of the conference sessions online at www.ihop.org and look for Onething08 archives. Locally, there are currently several corporate fasts underway including 21 days of prayer and fasting (Daniel fast) called by several churches (The Bridge, Orlando House of Prayer, The Gathering Place and others) going from January 18th through February 8th.  Some prayer points they have identified follow. I got them from www.thebridgeorlando.com/21-days-of-prayer-and-fasting.

1.     For an understanding to our identity as the Bride of Christ

2.      For a release of the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation - in understanding the day and hour we are living in - URGENCY OF THE HOUR

3.      A release of Covenant Finances in this economic crisis.  Provision for us all to accomplish His will and Prophetic Promises.

4.      For God to release His blueprint for unity according to Psalm 133 in our cities

5.      For the church to be burdened with the great commandment

   a. Love God

   b. Love our neighbor

6.     For the Church to respond with a spirit of justice on the issues of:

    a. The poor, hungry and homeless

    b. Abortion & Adoption

    c. Compassion and Mercy to the outcast and bound

There are also 2 regional prayer gatherings as part of this 21 days of prayer and fasting:

Living Sacrifices | Living Stones

He performed the mercy promised that we might serve Him without fear all the days of our life. (Luke 1:68-79)

By Gary Bergel

Happy New Year! Compiling reports for this first 2009 prayer letter and seeing militant pro-abortion advocates among President-elect Obama's appointees triggered flashbacks to 1973, the year IFA was called forth.

State laws against abortion were wiped out in January, 1973 by an activist Supreme Court in Roe vs Wade. Assaults on gender, marriage, and family were quickly intensified by legal and political activists who were waiting in the wings. Some of these same personalities or their protégés are again entering the political stage, even as I write. Déjà vu.

Biblical issues are "red hot." Taking moral stands, like California's Proposition 8 vote to ban same-sex marriage, can spark angry activism in the streets.

Many evangelical Christians appear war weary. Some seem confused and poised for compromise in areas where the Bible is morally certain. As ABC news anchor Ted Koppel declared in his 1987 Duke University commencement address: "What Moses brought down from Mt. Sinai were not the Ten Suggestions, they are Commandments. They are, not were." God, not man, has drawn today's battle lines.

How will we endure and soldier on? Only by living out a deep and abiding daily commitment to Christ. "Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ...." (1 Pet 2:4-5)

A key to open Kingdom understanding presented here is, "Coming to Him...!" All God-appointed direction in our lives, both for prayer and service, flows out of our relationship and fellowship with Christ.

Mark Earley, President of Prison Fellowship Ministries, stressed this in an "extraordinary" message, "Called by God / Called to God," which he shared at a banquet marking IFA's 35th year of ministry, held in conjunction with our annual in-person Board meeting at the end of October. We are presenting a short introductory excerpt to hopefully jump-start your devotional life with Jesus in 2009. Mark's full message, and all other 35th Anniversary Banquet remarks, is available as an audio CD. (See Page 2 of January first Friday Prayer Letter)

Scripture and the severity of the hour dictate that we surrender and consecrate ourselves as "living sacrifices." It is only as "living sacrifices" that we can know ourselves positioned and effective as "living stones" in the body of Christ. "Do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments [weapons] of righteousness to God." (Rom 6:13)

The call to each of us in this New Year is to be a yielded instrument, a "weapon" of righteousness to God. As we "come to Him" and yield our lives we satisfy our Lord's heart, advance His Kingdom, and fulfill this glorious Messianic prophecy: "Your people will be volunteers in the day of Your power." (Ps 110:3)

Christians prepare for evangelism in the new frontier - Cyberspace

Dozens of churches around the world are planning to participate in a

special missions trip that involves bringing Christ and His message

to a huge community where the Gospel is not the most popular

subject. So far, nearly 2,000 teens have signed up for the "Online

Missions Trip" to bombard popular social networking sites with

stories about God. "This is a two-week opportunity for all of us to

bombard Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Twitter, whatever social places

you go to online, with the Gospel of Jesus Christ," explains Tim

Schomoyer, the organizer of the missions trip and youth pastor at

Alexandria Covenant Church in Minnesota, in the missions trip's

promotional video. From Feb. 1-14, students from the United States,

Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Bermuda and elsewhere will

use the power of the internet to share Christ with people not only

on the other side of the world but across the street and with

friends in their school. Pre-"trip" training on how to effectively

get messages about Christ out using social networks begins on Jan.

11 and will continue until Jan. 31. During the "trip," participants

will upload videos and photos, post links, and use status updates to

share what God is doing in their lives. Participants will also write

notes, send messages, post blogs, create invitations to their youth

group, and do other things that will help bring God up in a

conversation online................ read more:

Miracles are happening in Israel!

By Dena Gewanter, M.D., Kiriat Yam, Israel

While the media in the West are lambasting Israel for killing women and children, and are saturating their viewers with horrific photos of bloodied corpses, Israel as a nation is undergoing an astonishing spiritual awakening as a result of this conflict. It is a pity that the world is unable to be witness to the miracles that are occurring here daily. Even the most jaded person would be amazed at the transformation of the people in this country. After many years of feeling the underdog and fearful of the approbation of the outside world, Israel is undergoing an absolute renaissance on a personal and national level.

The soldiers themselves seem to have a huge spiritual hunger, and are unified in not only asking for prayer but also praying themselves, wearing tzitzit (prayer tassels) into battle and carrying the book of Psalms with them. The Rabbis are calling the tzitzit "heavenly flak jackets!" Tent synagogues on the battlefield have no less than 10 sessions every morning.

There were reports daily of amazing miracles of protection and Divine direction during the battles. The following are just a few examples: A Hamas map was found, with booby-traps, land mines and sniper positions clearly spelled out. The IDF was able to counter each installation due to the information given. A large platoon of soldiers not realizing they were resting in a school that was booby-trapped, (discovered by a soldier relieving himself in the night), disarmed the bombs with no one hurt. A single soldier successfully fought off several Hamas terrorists trying to drag him into a tunnel, and all were captured. Hundreds of tunnels, hidden in homes under beds and kitchen cabinets, all full of live explosives and ammunition, yet none have exploded with IDF soldiers inside.

Miracle after miracle is reported even on the local news.  One hears the word "nes" (miracle) over and over by the reporters and the bystanders. A bomb heading toward 4 apartment buildings goes into a sewer pipe and explodes underground, damaging nothing above ground. An elderly woman caught in an apartment completely demolished by a bomb, walks out with scratches on her ankle. The mayor of Beersheva felt he should cancel school one day, and a rocket completely destroys an empty kindergarten.

Similar stories like these were heard during the second Lebanon war, reported on Israeli radio and television, but few in the west ever heard...we are becoming more and more aware that there is a Power greater than us on our side. We are fulfilling our commission to be a "Light to the Nations."

(5) Jesus heals in the pub

Subject: JN SMS: Jesus heals in the pub

Dear reader,

Jesus can meet people anywhere, even in the local pub.

In the Netherlands there is a growing network of Christians who share Jesus with people through the ministry of healing. One of them is Marjan Spijkman, who recently organized an evening on 'miracles and healings' in a local pub downtown. "Nine people, mainly women from the neighborhood, showed up," she reports. "God was powerfully present and healed them from reuma, emotional wounds, urination problems, and other hurts. One woman, who was nearly deaf, could hear again, to the surprise of her daughter and the other guests. You know, these women have a reputation in their neighborhood for being hard and bitter. But Jesus Christ touched them, they cried in our arms. Afterwards two women applied for an introductory course about Jesus. The owners of the pub invited us back and suggested that we would use the larger room in the pub, as they are expecting more people to come."

A young Dutch businessman who works in the field of finance had a similar experience. He shared how one day God brought him in touch with well-known esoteric healer and pub owner. Through a 'word of knowledge' God touched this man's heart. The healer started following Jesus and now uses his pub to share Him with others.

Be blessed and be a blessing!
