PRAY   CENTRAL   FLORIDA

Dear Fellow Prayer Warrior,                                                                           May, 2009

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The Global Day of Prayer is May 31st. See below for details and resources. The month of May is “Consecrate Orlando”.

ConsecrateOrlando is a month-long prayer initiative inviting all members of the “Church of Orlando” to respond to the call of God to consecrate itself anew and worship the Lord corporately over the “City Beautiful” and its adjacent communities”. There is more information in the e-mail and on-line versions of this newsletter and on their web site: www.consecrateorlando.weebly.com. Their web site has a calendar you can check and see the various prayer meetings during the month of May. There are multiple meetings in different parts of the area every day, so go check it out!

Global Day of Prayer Sunday May 31st  and “10 Days” May 21 – 30 –

Following the example of the first believers who "joined together constantly" in prayer (Acts 1:14) until the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the Global Day of Prayer is calling Christians from all nations to unite in prayer. A simple strategy will be implemented each year until 2010 and "BEYOND": Ten Days of day-and-night prayer from Ascension day until the Saturday before Pentecost Sunday and a Global Day of Prayer on Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2009. The Global Day of Prayer is a call to united prayer. The 10 Days preceding the Global Day of Prayer creates an excellent opportunity to unite in prayer with millions around the globe, based on Acts 1 and 2. The 10-Day Prayer Guide is merely a guideline and may be adapted to your specific needs and prayer focus. The resources below will assist you in saturating your nation and the nations of the world in prayer as we cry out to God with millions for His glory to fill the whole earth and for the fulfillment of His promises. (2) ConsecrateOrlando (the month of May)

Subject: Information on ConsecrateOrlando

“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you."

I hope you had a great Resurrection weekend, and that you can now turn your attention to participating in the exciting, region wide prayer initiative  ConsecrateOrlando  which will be taking place during the entire month of May, and involving the Body of Christ in seven (7) counties here in Central Florida.

Our Orlando team is contacting others with hearts burning to see the LORD’S PRESENCE  permeate and penetrate our region…

and impact the lives of all those living in Central Florida.   Each congregation / ministry taking part  will uphold this corporate initiative on one of the 31 days in May with a prayer service dedicated to consecration to the Lord and worshipping Him over our region.

Our hope is that you and the readers of your PCF newsletter will participate on behalf of all those they represent here in Central FL…

and that the many congregations and ministries that join us will be blessed by this consecration and worship experience!

Please review the attached info, and let me know what part you would like to play in this!. Blessings!    Maureen    407-810-4665 Cell    Maureen@ruii.org

Let the sound of WORSHIP fill the air, changing the atmosphere in Central Florida!

Setting aside the month of May 2009 to consecrate ourselves and our city to the Lord.

"Then Joshua said to the people,

'Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.'"

(Joshua 3:5, NASB)

·        Recognizing the one true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, is majestic in holiness, awesome in glory and able to work wonders (Exodus 15);

·        Recognizing the seriousness of the times in which we are living and acknowledging our responsibility for the sin that permeates our homes and our neighborhoods (1 John 1:8-9);

·        Recognizing our own inability to address the root issues involved with personal and corporate pride, poverty, violence and racial discrimination;

The Body of Christ in Central Florida is being called to set aside the month of May 2009 to consecrate our lives, our city and the greater Orlando area to the Lord, seeking His face and asking for His mercy and forgiveness as we repent for our individual and corporate sinfulness.

This time of consecration will be marked by corporate prayer and worship that

·        extends across denominational and racial lines;

·        embraces a variety of expressions while maintaining the centrality of the Word;

·        expresses confidence in our God to be the source of eternal hope and healing for our land.

During this time of prayer and worship, we will invite God to invade our lives, making us one in Him, humble, gentle, patient, and able to bear with one another in love (Ephesians 4). We will ask for and trust we will receive new wineskins, to hold the “new wine” that will be poured out into our hearts for this season.  As we celebrate His goodness and honor His faithfulness, we will express our love and gratitude to Him by reaching out to others in our community.

Following the Consecrate|ORLANDO prayer experience in the month of May, we will corporately experience the joy of serving many in our midst who are marginalized, impoverished and hurting in our region.  Participating in the GDOP’s “90 Days of Blessing,” we will encourage existing ministries as well as participate in special Consecrate|ORLANDO service initiatives.

To God be the Glory!

Questions and Answers

Q:  What is at the heart of Consecrate|ORLANDO?

A:  The Holy Spirit is the Author and Finisher of Consecrate|ORLANDO. Under His leadership, a Servant Team of believers with hearts for prayer and a desire to see God exalted in our region will together.facilitate this month long, corporate prayer initiative.

Q: How can I get involved?

A: To learn more, you are welcome to attend one of the special worship and prayer times which will function as models for the services which will be held on each of the 31 days. These will take place on three consecutive Thursdays, April 16th, 23rd and 30th at 7 PM at Centro Cristiano Restauracion (Restoration Christian Center), 1600 N. Chickasaw Trail (off of Hwy 50 / Colonial Drive) in East Orlando.

Consecrate|ORLANDO is committed to cultivating, fostering and nurturing strong cross-denominational relationships in the Body of Christ in our region.  Cross pollinating working teams are being developed that will truly reflect the message of Ephesians 4 as they facilitate those groups hosting each day of the Consecrate|ORLANDO worship schedule.

Q:  What does Consecrate|ORLANDO look like for the month of May?

A:  There will be at least one prayer gathering (sometimes more) each day in May. Each will offer a call for the consecration of ourselves and our city to the Lord, and release corporate worship of God over the Central Florida area..These services will include times of worship, prayer and repentance, and will be of different sizes, components and persuasions, in small or large, little known or well-established places in Central Florida.  On May 31st, Pentecost Sunday / the Global Day of Prayer, there are plans for one large corporate gathering at a central location  (tentatively scheduled for the Orange County Courthouse)..

Q: What about other prayer initiatives in May, such as the National Day of Prayer (NDP) and the Global Day of Prayer (GDOP)?

A: Both NDP and GDOP observances will be incorporated into the Consecrate|ORLANDO master schedule.  At present, we are hosting two events on the May 7th National Day of Prayer.  The first, at 7:00 AM, is the Central Florida Mayors Prayer Breakfast, in the Ballroom at Church Street. (Tickets:: http://mayorsprayerbreakfast.org)  The second, at 7 PM, is at Centro Cristiano Restauracion (Restoration Christian Center). This is open to all.  There will also be a large corporate gathering on May 31st , the Global Day of Prayer (Pentecost Sunday).  .

Q:  Can we partner with another congregation to cover one of the days in prayer together?

A: Yes! Exalt the name of Jesus together!  As long as the focus of consecration is upheld and God is worshipped over Orlando and Central Florida, the possibilities for cooperation in this are endless

Q:  Is there someone I should tell about our plans?  Is there a Consecrate|ORLANDO communications network?

A:  Members of the Servant Team for Consecrate|ORLANDO are facilitating  communications!  If that is where your gifting lies, come join us!  We are also connecting through Facebook. Our  group” Is Consecrate|ORLANDO. [Editors note: their web site is www.consecrateorlando.weebly.com]

Q:  What resources are available to help us in our planning?

A:  If you’re sensing that God is calling you to participate in Consecrate|ORLANDO, please contact one of the Servant Team listed at the bottom of this sheet.  You are also encouraged to visit the websites for the National Day of Prayer (http://www.ndptf.org/) and the Global Day of Prayer (http://www.globaldayofprayer.com/ ).  Both have a variety of useful material which can be adapted for your use.

Q:  You mentioned a follow-up time of service to the community. What will that look like?

A:  As the final part of the GDOP initiative, members of the 21st century Church are encouraged to follow the example of the early Church in the book of Acts by going into their local communities to bless them, thus the name “90 Days of Blessing.” Consecrate|ORLANDO participants are encouraged to take partin the “90 Days of Blessing” from June 1st – August 29th.

There will be a suggested list of existing ministries that need additional support throughout the summer months. We are also planning special Consecrate|ORLANDO service events.  Facilitating participation in these events is yet another opportunity for those assisting in Consecrate|ORLANDO leadership team.

Q:  I’d like to know more   Is there someone I can contact for additional information?

A:  Yes!  Feel free to contact any of the following individuals on the Servant Team:

Tomas Lares       321-604-1441           Nancy Schneider    407-341-1191

Milton Monell        407-826-2691           Maureen Bravo     407-810-4665

If the Lord is calling you to participate by upholding one of the 31 days:

  • Select an open day from the master calendar and choose the time for your gathering
  • When planning your gathering, ask God to direct you as you search both His heart and His Word for  the scriptures He wants you to focus on during your time of consecration
  • Use whichever prayer model works best for you.  Example: “ACTS “ - A (Adoration),   C (Confession),     T (Thanksgiving) and S (Supplication)
  • During the worship segments, praise God with songs that place the focus on Him and His attributes (Who He is, His amazing love, et al). This will facilitate the participants entering into His Presence and encourage them to respond to the call to consecrate their lives to Him!
  • Set aside a specific time in the service during which the call for consecration goes forth to those who are present, and n behalf of their families, friends, and others in Greater Orlando and Central Florida
  • Move from the time of consecration back into worship, calling on those gathered to begin worshipping God over their lives, their families, their congregations, neighborhoods, workplaces, the city, and on out out over all of Central Florida!
  • Members of ConsecrateORLANDO’s servant team are available to come alongside your team, providing support in planning, and to help on site with the prayer and worship segments of your gathering
  •  ConsecrateORLANDO is a corporate call to the entire Body of Christ in Central Florida. We will be  cross-pollinating” and strongly encourage you to attend at least one other worship gathering, in addition to the one you will be facilitating.  It is through sharing these types of experiences that we are enabled to live out the Word of God in Ephesians 4.
  • There will be many different congregations and diverse ministries from across the Body of Christ participating in ConsecrateORLANDO.  While appreciating both our uniqueness and diversity in the many expressions of our Christian faith, at times, some of us might feel a bit stretched in our comfort zones. Should that occur, remember Ephesians 4… let us make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
  • One of the ways ConsecrateORLANDO is being promoted is through our Facebook group. We also encourage you to utilize your regular communications networks, such as church website, e-mail lists, and printed bulletins to get the word out, inviting participation by those living in your part of the city.
  • These members of the ConsecrateORLANDO servant team are available to you at any time, to pray with you, answer questions and provide guidance.  Please don’t hesitate to call any one of them.

Intercessors for America is pleased to join with The American Policy Roundtable's call for all Americans to lift the United States Congress in prayer for the 40-day period from May 7 through June 15, 2009.  "Criticism of Congress is high in every city and town, but the responsibilities before this Congress are even higher" stated David Zanotti, President/CEO of the Roundtable, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. "In the healthcare debate alone, Congress is now facing decisions that will impact every American. These are decisions that have life and death consequences for every household."

The Roundtable has produced a daily Congressional prayer list to help people pray through the entire U.S. Congress, both House and Senate, in the forty days between May 7th and June 15th, 2009.

(4) Global Day of Prayer – May 31st

[From www.waymakers.org]

Following the example of the first believers who "joined together

constantly" in prayer (Acts 1:14) until the outpouring of the Holy

Spirit, the Global Day of Prayer is calling Christians from all

nations to unite in prayer. A simple threefold strategy will be

implemented each year until 2010 and "BEYOND":

Ten Days of day-and-night prayer from Ascension day until the

Saturday before Pentecost Sunday.

A Global Day of Prayer on Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2009

The Global Day of Prayer is a call to united prayer. The 10 Days

preceding the Global Day of Prayer creates an excellent opportunity

to unite in prayer with millions around the globe, based on Acts 1

and 2. The 10 Days helps us to gradually build a lifestyle of prayer

in our communities, as well as to focus our prayers more widely than

our personal and national needs as we pray with millions during this

time.

Ten Days provides an excellent opportunity to involve youth and

children. Do include them in your planning and make sure that they

have a prayer responsibility during the 10 Days, be it in a creative

prayer room focused on youth or children or in an integrated prayer

room.

The 10-Day Prayer Guide is merely a guideline and may be adapted to

your specific needs and prayer focus. The resources below will assist

you in saturating your nation and the nations of the world in prayer

as we cry out to God with millions for the His glory to fill the

whole earth and for the fulfillment of His promises.

The 10 Day Prayer Guide provides topical prayer information for each

day leading up to Pentecost.

Any country or region is encouraged to adapt and publish the ten-day

prayer guide in a way that fits their local needs.

English language printed copies of the 10 Day Prayer Guide are

available from the office of WayMakers in the USA. Inquire at:

End of Session Report

May 4 – May 8, 2009 * Legislative Session, Tallahassee, FL

An Exclusive Report and Analysis
of Legislative Activity for Social Conservatives
By Nathan Dunn, Vice President of Public Policy

Dear George,

The Legislature adjourned today for the 2009 Session just before 3pm. There was some good that came out of it.  But from our perpsective as advocates for life, marriage and family, it was a rather disappointing outcome.  Here is a quick summary of the positive and negative outcomes of some of the main issues, with more details provided below:

Good News:

  • The 2 million dollars reserved for funding Crisis Pregnancy Centers stayed in the Budget even after the Senate tried to remove it.  These critical funds will go toward helping women in crisis pregancies get critical services who do the right thing and "choose life" to have their babies.
  • All of the homosexual agenda bills died in committee without any public hearings.  Gay adoption, gay marriage, and special rights for gays- all dead on arrival.  These were all bad public policy and the resounding 62% yes vote on marriage recently, coupled with our behind the scenes work, played no small part in the defeat of these bad bills.
  • The proposed repeal of the sales tax exemption on religious items and the repeal of the tax status of churches did not succeed. This was a really bad idea that was being floated in the economic desperation of trying to find new sources of revenue.  The idea never got momentum and the bill died.

Bad News:

  • The Marriage Preparation Bill died in committee.  This good bill would have strengthened marriages and reduced divorces.  This bill had the potential to save taxpayers millions of dollars resulting from family fragmentation.  It was non-controversal and had bi-partisan support.  This is one of the biggest disappointments as it could have easily passed with support from leadership in both houses.
  • The Ultrasound Option Bill died in committee.  This bill would have allowed women the opportunity to view an ultrasound of their baby prior to aborting their child.  This bill has died for the past 2 years in a row.
  • A ban on the funding of Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research died.   The provision was removed during negotiations in the final week.
  • The Gambling Expansion Bill passed. This bill authorizes casino-style gambling at Seminole facilities and provides a tax-cut for slot-machine industry executives in south Florida. It passed overwhelmingly in both chambers.

Our executive team will take the next two days and pray on site at the Seminole and Miccosukee gambling casinos.  With the gambling issues as intense as they are across our state we must intervene in the heavenlies. I have attached a map and list of the casinos along with some scriptures, please join us in praying for this NOW Florida issue. (If you are not familiar with the issues at hand, simply Google Florida Seminole Compact) Remember Scripture tell us that gambling brings the evil eye and poverty to those who partake.

I am grateful to those of you who have responded to “watching” over a body of water in our state.  I hope to hear from more of you as we yet have many rivers, lakes and county coast lines that need to be spoken up for.

As we have continued to seek the Lord on this issue I believe the Father has exposed a demonic 3 fold cord of assignments against the saints of Florida. The biblical platform for this is found in Psalm 83:5:  “For they have consulted together with one consent; they form a confederacy against You:” NKJV

The works of each of the three entities that Holy Spirit has revealed to us are described in scripture.

1.  The works and character of Leviathan as described in Ezek 29:3-5; Job 41

2.  The works and character of King of Tyre as described in Ezek 27 and 28. Remember the city of Tyre was a coastal city and trading was its main industry.

FL Economy Facts:  Florida is a major gateway for merchandise trade between North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, and other world regions. In 2007, goods valued at nearly $115 billion entered or exited the US through Florida’s two US Custom Districts. This is an 80.5% increase from 1997 to 2007. [1) Miami Customs District, which encompasses seaports and airports in a swatch running from Fort Pierce south to Key West; 2) Tampa Customs District, which includes all of the state except South Florida]

Miami is second only to New York as a US center for international banking gateway. Over 70 foreign and domestic banks active in international trade and finance have offices in Miami, including 6 of the largest banks in the world. The total value of holdings by foreign-affiliated companies reached $35.3 billion in 2005, making Florida the 10th largest recipient of foreign direct investment in the nation.   (gathered from eflorida.com)

3.  The works and character of Python as described in Acts 16:16. “Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling.” NKJV

Paul was evangelizing at the riverside, “where prayer was customarily made;” The spirit of divination spoken of there literally means spirit of Python, who was a soothsayer. [“divination” = Strong’s 4436. Puthon]

We can see that in the natural, a python leaves the form of life since it doesn’t break bones, but takes the breath away. [Pythons are constrictors. They grab their prey with their teeth, then quickly wrap coils of their bodies around the prey and squeeze. They don’t actually crush the prey and break its bones, though. Instead, they squeeze tightly so that the prey animal can’t breathe and it suffocates. The snake then begins the leisurely process of unhinging its jaw and swallowing the prey whole, usually head first. Many pythons are excellent swimmers and spend a lot of time in the water. One of their ambush techniques to catch food is to lie submerged in a stream or slow-moving river with only their heads above the water, waiting for a bird or small mammal to come to the water’s edge. http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-python.html]

As they have come together we can see by reading the scriptures their intentions against the state of Florida.  I have not taken lightly what the Father showed me and have sought counsel concerning this in addition to our own executive team.  I believe this assignment to watch over our waters is of the Lord and we need to be faithful on behalf of our state.

I cannot emphasis enough praying/blessing over our waters, if you are not currently watching over a body of water please consider doing so.  Also please let me know what body you’re adopting so we can make sure everything is covered.

We are seeking the Father as to a date for our Florida Flotilla. On this day we all gather at our body of water and address our enemy corporately…Florida will have her treasures returned!

For those of you that we at the meeting in Sebastian with All Nations Prayer and Healing Ministries and Jay Swallow I want to tell you that the offering was $2600.00.  I rejoice that the Body of Christ always rallies for the cause of Christ!

The offering will be split half to a First Nations work and half to a work in Israel.  For those who weren’t there these two offerings are a sign before the Father of our strengthening our covenant root.

We continue to keep our website current with Florida’s water issues, please feel free to visit it.

Keeping You Informed of World Events From A Biblical Perspective

Welcome to this week's edition of Prophecy News Watch

The Third Jihad DVD

Why a study and perspective of Islam is necessary ....

Muslims are increasing more than any other religious group in the

world. Their growth rate is four times faster than Christians.

Presently, those who practice Islam make up approximately one-fifth

of the world's population. One Bible teacher from England, after

reviewing current demographics, commented that, "if present trends

continue, half of all global births will be in Muslim families by

the year 2055". Something revolutionary is happening before our

eyes, and most Western Christians are oblivious to it. Not only are

Muslims the fastest growing religious group in the world, but also

in the United States, Canada and Europe, with Europe perhaps being

the model of where Canada and then the United States are heading

shortly after.

Any simple examination of the present birth rates of the native

Europeans versus Europe's Muslim immigrant population leads us to

one very clear and ominous conclusion: the Europe we have known is

very quickly changing into what some refer to as Eurabia, where

Europe will soon find itself under the power and control of Islam.

The following short clip will show you just where our world is

heading from a purely demographic point of view - click here to watch:

More Americans "Pro-Life" Than "Pro-Choice" for First Time

A new Gallup Poll, conducted May 7-10, finds 51% of Americans

calling themselves "pro-life" on the issue of abortion and 42%

"pro-choice." This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have

identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this

question in 1995. The new results, obtained from Gallup's annual

Values and Beliefs survey, represent a significant shift from a year

ago, when 50% were pro-choice and 44% pro-life. Prior to now, the

highest percentage identifying as pro-life was 46%, in both August

2001 and May 2002.. .................. read more:

(11) IRANIAN CHURCH NEEDS SUPPORT

IRANIAN CHURCH NEEDS SUPPORT

The church in Iran is growing and needs support from other Christians, says Patrick Klein of Vision Beyond Borders. “The revival in Iran is equivalent to what’s happening in China. It’s not as large a scale, but there are many people coming to Christ in Iran, and people are searching for the truth.”
Klein is evaluating how VBB ministry can best support the church in Iran. He learned that 98 percent of the Iranians do not support their government. They have had enough of living in a society of fear and oppression. Klein warns that the oppression could soon get worse. “We’ve heard that Ahmadinejad said that this year, he’s going to wipe out Christianity in Iran and get rid of all traces of Christianity.” Vision Beyond Borders plans to send ten thousand Bibles into the country.
Pray that God will strengthen Iranian Christians and help them share the Gospel in their country.

(12) Kingdom Assignments and Patterns

From: Alice & Eddie Smith <usprayercenter@cs.com>

To: praycf@juno.com

Date: Mon, 11 May 2009 03:40:22 -0400

Subject: Insight:  Kingdom Assignments and Patterns (051109)

[editor’s note: this is an excerpt from their newsletter]

Two-thirds of God's revelation to us of Himself is as an intercessor. The Holy Spirit is an intercessor according to Romans 8, and the Son is an intercessor according to Hebrews 7. Two-thirds of Jesus' earthly life was spent in intercession. God “is into” intercession. Our unlimited God chooses to limit His activity to partner with praying people. We could say that a person or a church must become a house of prayer to fully partner with God and reach its Kingdom potential.

One of the greatest joys Alice and I’ve experienced has been on Christmas mornings. In the late fall, when our children were young, we’d begin listening extra closely to them. We’d their responses to television ads, store displays, and toy catalogs. Why? We hoped we’d discover what they wanted for Christmas.

Soon the day would come when Alice and I would compare notes. Each would share with the other what we felt our kids wanted, what would be good for them to receive, and what we can actually afford. It was always a special feeling when these three things coincided.

Over the next few weeks we’d locate the items, shop for the best prices, make the purchases, and then came the hardest part. Where would we hide the gifts? Once that was settled, we’d wait expectantly for Christmas morning—or, as was the custom in Alice's family, Christmas Eve.

That evening, after a huge celebratory meal, one of the adults would distract the kids while the rest of us placed the previously hidden toys around the tree. Then, when everything was ready and the stage was set, we would call everyone together in the living room where we’d sing Christmas carols, read the Christmas story once again to remind ourselves what Christmas was really about, pray and exchange gifts.

What fun it was to watch the faces of our children (and now our grandchildren) as they opened those colorful packages which contained their hoped for toys. The look of delight in their eyes was all the “thanks” we ever really needed.

Your heavenly Father takes special delight in the surprised look in your eyes when good things come, things that you’ve longed for and for which you’ve earnestly prayed.

At this point in human history, we should listen more closely than ever to the Father to hear what He says in His Word and in our hearts. We should take note of what He really desires to do. We should ask Him to reveal His purposes to us so we can be His effective Kingdom partners.

Moses did that. The Psalmist said, “He (God) made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel.” The Children of Israel knew God’s deeds (what God did). But Moses knew God’s ways (why God did it). Why do you suppose this was the case? Was Moses simply smarter than the others? Was it because he was “a minister” and they weren’t? No, that’s not it at all. Moses knew God’s ways because He sought to please God, and he asked to know God’s ways. In Exodus 33:13 Moses prayed, “If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you…” And the Lord answered Him in the next verse saying, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” And although God spoke to others in riddles, He spoke to Moses face-to-face. So says, Numbers 12:7-8. If you know the ways of God you can rest, even in the midst of tribulation!

Scripture records, “God testified concerning him, ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do’” (Acts 13:22). David also knew the ways of God. Why? Was it because he was a nationally known giant-killer or a king? No. Was it because he was a talented “Israel’s Got Talent” harpist? No. It was because he knew, moment to moment, what was on God’s heart.

David knew God’s ways for the same reason Moses did. Psalm 25:4 records David’s prayer, “Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths.” Pray the Jabez prayer? Sure. Go for it. But you might also consider praying the Moses prayer, and the David prayer, “Lord, show me your ways!”

We can only pray Kingdom prayers, prayers that are prayed with understanding as God gives us Kingdom understanding! And as God’s appointed day nears, so will our excitement and His.

Like any good parent, God loves giving His children what they truly want. Perhaps we should pray,

“Lord, make me to want, only what you want. Cause me to see only what you see, and feel only what you feel in every matter, with every person, and concerning every situation for which I am called to pray. May my heart be so in tune with yours that the very prayers that I pray will have originated in heaven.

The Kingdom was central to Jesus’ teachings. He said, “As the father has sent me, so I send you.” So we should also interpret our earthly existence and experiences in the light of the Kingdom.

Our challenge begins with understanding what achievement really means. If we define achievement in terms of health, wealth, fame, and earthly success (you know, things that moths, rust, and thieves can ruin), then we limit what God can do through us. Truth is, God can give us surpassing Kingdom achievement without any of those things.

An example would be a poor widow with a young son. The widow worked long hours cleaning houses to feed her family. She attended church regularly, but never served on a committee, held a position of leadership, or made a visible difference in the life of the church. What did God think of her achievement?

After her husband died, in her grief she prayed and asked the Lord how she should live her Christian life. She told Him she couldn’t devote many hours to volunteer ministry service, though she wanted to. She could provide large financial gifts to her church. God told her that her primary responsibility was to raise her young son to love and obey Him. She did this with all her heart. She devoted every available minute to this one task.

Her son grew to become a famous evangelist who led thousands of people to the Lord. What did God think of her achievement? The now elderly widow prayed, obeyed and trusted God with the results.

What does God think of your achievements? What does He ask of you? The lady in this story began with an understanding what she could not do, but ended understanding what she could do—reach her Kingdom potential, and prepare her son to reach his!
